Compassion Sunday, March 16th

Begins with an open heart.

The sight of a child living in extreme poverty – in need of clean clothes, fresh water and a glimmer of hope for the future – ignites a flicker of compassion in even the hardest heart.

Too many children struggle for survival, simply because they are too young and too small to take a stand for themselves.  These cold statistics paint a grim picture:

  • AIDS has created more than 15 million orphans.
  • Nearly 28,000 children under the age of 5 die daily of preventable diseases
  • More than 146 million children younger than 5 are malnourished
  • More than 100 million children are homeless
  •

The need is too big to ignore.  But by accepting God’s challenge, the lives of hundreds of thousands of children can be transformed.

Compassion Sunday, March 16th is when you can make a difference in the life of a child who is trapped by poverty.  You will be given the opportunity to sponsor a child through Compassion International for only $32.00 a month. You can develop a relationship with the child through letter writing and provide for his or her spiritual, economic, social and physical needs.  Your child will be involved in Christian training and learn that Jesus deeply loves him or her. Visit the sign up table in the Narthex and plant a seed of hope and change the world for one hurting child.

Children’s Musical: The title is “We Can Praise”.  The spiritual message of the musical is that we can praise God every moment of our day.  Our God is an AWESOME God!  Thanks to Cheryl Bixler for her wonderful help and for doing almost all of the choreography this year.  Thanks also to Jim Roseman, Shelly Lehner, and Tara Rucker.  The children are practicing hard and doing a fantastic job! The musical will be presented on Saturday March 1st at 5:30, and on Sunday, March 2nd at the 9:15 service only.  There will be a traditional worship service at 11:00 on March 2nd.  Thank you to the following children who have been working so hard:  Emma Beavins, Andrew & Kathryn Bixler, Alexandra & Jaclyn Boardman, Evan Bridge, Erin Clarke, Madeline Daily, Ted Gray, Autumn Higgins, Katie Land, Tyler Lehner, Breanna & Emily Mann, Emma & Rebecca Moore, Janelle & Jacob Moss, Ben O’Keefe, Ally & Olivia Parramore, Emma & Morgan Pietras, Elizabeth Roseman, and Brian & Edgar Sanchez.
